By now you’ve heard about the sale of a majority of Newk’s to the New York investment firm Sentinel Capitol Partners. The move ensures continued growth for the 60+ location Jackson-based chain, which celebrated its 10th anniversary last month.

All three of the original founders–Chris Newcomb, Don Newcomb and Debra Bryson–will maintain a minority ownership in Newk’s, with Chris retaining his role as CEO.

Nathalie Strickland, who handles Newk’s public relations, told EatingOxford.com yesterday, “These recent changes present a great opportunity for Newk’s growth in new and existing market areas; the existing owners will remain on along with Sentinel.”

It’s many an entrepreneur’s dream to grow to a point where someone else wants to invest in your business, so congratulations to Newk’s on this momentous accomplishment. We wish them all the best in their continued growth as a company that started right here in Oxford!
