Tribecca Allie Cafe Wins SEC Pizza Championship

Unsurprising to anyone who has dined at Tribecca Allie Cafe in Sardis, Mississippi, chef/co-owner Damian “Dutch” Vanoostendorp won the first SEC Pizza Championship held this past weekend during the 2nd Annual Oxford Craft Beer Festival.

Six pizzerias competed in the contest that drew crowds of hungry attendees away from the beer tents seeking a taste of prize-worthy pies.

Tribecca Allie Cafe’s Vanoostendorp represented the University of Mississippi Rebels with his specialty wood-fired pizza, which included ricotta cream, whole-milk fresh mozzarella, house-made Italian sausage, wild mushrooms, seasoned crispy kale and spiced vinegar.

Other competitors participating in the PMQ Pizza Magazine sponsored event included: Richard Traylor of Tre Amici in Oxford; Preston Lott and Brooks Roberts from Lost Pizza Company in Starkville; David Tieman and his team from Five Points Pizza in Nashville; Satchel Raye from Satchel’s Pizza in Gainesville, Florida; and Shaynna Gueo from Fleur De Lis Pizza in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
