After weeks of passing the Coming Soon sign outside the former location of San Francisco Bread Company, The Big Bowl Asian Bistro opened to eager crowds tonight as hungry patrons filed in to try menu items such as fresh rice paper rolls, BBQ spareribs, broccoli beef, pad Thai and bubble tea.
I arrived a bit late, but was sure to pick up a menu for the next visit.
I tried Big Bowl the other day and was pleasantly surprised to find out that it’s owned by the same folks that own Kabuki. I had the shrimp and fried rice plate, which was good, but slightly overpriced for an order-at-the-counter establishment. Kudos for delivering the food at lightening speed and for having a staff that’s friendly and attentive.
UPDATE 1/26: Big Bowl Asian Bistro has now transitioned to a sit-down establishment as opposed to its original order-at-the-counter system. There are also plans to bring in a sushi bar soon.
UPDATE 2/14/10: The website is up; check it out here.
UPDATE 3/3/10: Half-price sushi and sake every day from 3-4 p.m.
