According to today’s Daily Mississippian, Abner’s Famous Chicken Tenders has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.
But fear not. No stores will close as a result of the filing, and owner Abner White says that the filing is only being done as a means for the Oxford locations to negotiate with an existing creditor.
Abner’s Inc. owns two restaurants in Oxford. Abner’s Inc. is the company that filed for Chapter 11 protection due to difficulty in working out a bank deal. Chapter 11 protection will allow the Oxford locations time to restructure debt and work through issues with the bank. Abner’s of Starkville Inc, Abner’s of Tupelo LLC, Abner’s of Cordova LLC, and Abner’s of Brandon LLC are not involved in the bankruptcy in any way, according to White.
