Rebel Barn Reopens Wednesday

rebel bbqWho’s ready for some drive-through barbecue? Rebel Barn has what you need starting this Wednesday, January 22.

David Dixon, co-owner of Rivals BBQ, the catering company Ole Miss tailgaters have grown to love over the past couple of years, is reopening the big red barn at 1412 Jackson Avenue, and keeping the name we’ve all come to know as the Rebel Barn.

“We’ll start with drive-through service and gradually grow to dine-in within a month or so,” Dixon told Catering services will also still be available.

The menu includes favorites such as hot Delta tamales (straight from the Delta), BBQ taquitos, BBQ nachos, pulled pork sandwiches and plates, ribs (after 4:00 p.m.), BBQ beef bologna and more. “We make all of our own sauces and rubs,” says Dixon. “We only cook with charcoal and wood over a rotisserie, and pull–never chop–our meats.”

When asked why he didn’t name the restaurant Rivals BBQ after his catering company, Dixon replied that everyone knows the big red barn as the “Rebel Barn,” so it just made sense to keep with tradition. It’s a nod to Oxford history that Dixon seems proud to carry on.

Rebel Barn will open at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday through Sunday and will stay open as late as it needs to, according to Dixon. Closed Mondays. For more information call 662-234-1408.
