Oxford Native Kelli Russell (formerly Kelli Smith), who you may recognize from her cake decorating days at Emileigh’s Bakery, just opened her dream bakery here in her hometown. Take a drive down University Avenue and cure your sweet tooth with cookies, petit fours and cupcakes, all sold individually. There are seasonal cookies as well (I had one that looked like a carrot for Easter)! Don’t leave without trying The Double Doozie, a chocolate chip cookie sandwich stuffed with icing and rolled in sprinkles.
Kelli’s Cakes and Confections is also taking orders, so you can have all of these goodies at your next party, school event, or for your tailgate in the Grove. The bakery makes stunning wedding and grooms cakes as well. “These cakes will be made with buttercream icing instead of fondant,” Kelli says.
I asked Kelli, Why Oxford? And I think most of us can agree with her response, “Because Oxford is the Best!”
While Kelli says it was a stressful process opening her bakery, she says she could not have done it without the support she had from friends, family, and the Oxford community.
